Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to make his first visit to the state on September 24 to inaugurate a mega food park in Tumkur.
While the state government is yet to get the details about Modi’s tour programme, sources in state BJP office said Modi would arrive in Bangalore on September 23 evening and spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
Modi would inaugurate Integrated Food Park Private Limited at Koravahalli village, 25 km from Tumkur town, at 11 am on September 24 and fly back to Delhi on the same day.
5A senior BJP leader told Express that the state BJP leaders are looking forward to an interactive dinner with Modi on September 23. “But we are yet to receive any response from the Prime Minister,” he said.
Spread across 110 acre, the food park will be the largest of its kind in the state set up at a cost of at least Rs 110 crore by Future Group company.
The Food Park will be a central point for farmers living within a radius of 250 kilometre from the park. The agricultural produce will reach the food park from the collection centres and will be sorted and graded. Some of the produce will reach Future Group retail stores and the rest will be processed.
The food park will also house pulping, milling, flouring, spice and dal units and will have an 80,000 sqft cold store to supply fruits and vegetables round the year.
The park will also have a manufacturing centre for 60 medium-sized food processing units that make ready-to-eat products.
